Planning a trip to Bulgaria? This video shows you an unfiltered perspective through Plovdiv, an ancient city in the heart of Bulgaria. We explore the vibrant city center, the quaint old town, and most major districts by bike.
π About Plovdiv:
Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria after the capital Sofia, and is often cited as the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe, with history dating back over 8,000 years. Located in south-central Bulgaria on the banks of the Maritsa River, Plovdiv is famously built around seven hills, giving it the nickname βThe City of the Seven Hills.β Throughout history, it has been home to Thracians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans, each leaving behind a rich cultural legacy. Named European Capital of Culture in 2019 and 1999, Plovdiv combines ancient history with a growing modern arts scene.
Plovdiv is a key economic hub, with strong manufacturing, IT, and logistics sectors. The city is near the Trakia Economic Zone, one of the largest industrial zones in Southeast Europe, attracting major companies like Liebherr and ABB.
