Over the Easter weekend, our group of incredible cyclists completed the gruelling, 120-mile, ride from the Vitality Stadium (Bournemouth F.C.) to Selhurst Park, raising over £50,000 for young south Londoners.
Palace for Life Foundation is the official charity of Crystal Palace F.C. which has been working with the south London community for over 30 years. We use the power of football and the Palace brand to change the lives of young people across south London, particularly the most hard-to-reach and hard-to-help. We work with over 15,000 people each year, inspiring them to find a better path and to lead a healthier life.

Now this weekend 14 incredible cyclist riding from the street. We got a bike ride going on and we got 44 riders. Bit of a change this year going from Bournemouth back to Celis Park for the game tomorrow afternoon. Back in 2020, um the weekend that Premier League football got cancelled, we were cycling down here for the away game, which we eventually won after co um but the game got called off as the the riders got to the hotel. So, it was um kind of unfinished business really for the for the riders this year. Uh we’re riding 120 120 mi back to Cellhurst. You know, raising money for the Youth South London is no better cause than that. And uh the group of people, this community uh really great group of people that I’ve like always happy to see every year. It’s a tough challenge and we’ve got a lot of riders that have come back year on year. Um I think the camaraderie between the riders and the kind of friendships that have been built is a big part of that. Majority of them are big palace fans from the local area, from South London. So knowing that they’re doing their bit on the bike to raise money and and help young people around South London, I think is is the main attraction for them. I would suggest training is important. I didn’t do enough, but we’re getting there and we’ve been getting lots of great support and that’s something I think you can always rely on when it comes to Palace for Life. And being a Palace fan, my it’s one of those things, a way to kind of contribute to the club. My sister was also a Crystal Palace fan and unfortunately she actually took her own life a few years ago. Um, and she is was a keen cyclist as well. So, I’ve been trying to find ways to pay homage to her a little bit. Um, and I think this is a great way to do that. And so, it it kind of inspired me to to to sign up for it this year. Concept of the sponsor of choice for Palace this season is that we get the choice to look at one of the events. Uh, being a Palace fan and a cyclist, I decided to go for the bike ride. It’s important for us to to give something back to the community. U, we’re a great believer in making sure that everyone has opportunities. We we reach out to to everyone. We we have a lot on social values and put a great emphasis on to giving something back into local communities. So Jess and I are friends from home. We’re from Northern Ireland, lovely part of the world. And then Jess, Dunks, and Liv went to university together. Lydia and Duns went to school together and played hockey. And then Emma’s just part of the furniture. Sure. It was quite easy cuz these guys all love cycling. So, they were pretty pretty keen. Not anymore. Now, now I’m full of regret. Peaks was the pesto pasta. That was pints. Pints. It’s been a really good day. It was really hard. It’s been one of the hardest of the uh of the challenges, but it’s been really good fun. Yeah, the camaraderie is brilliant. You’ve seen like second groups arrived. Everyone from the first group’s rushed away from the bar, left their drinks just to come and clap everyone in cuz the whole group is just such a good atmosphere. Really welcoming group. There’s people like me who’ve done every year. There’s others who’ve done it a few years and there’s complete newcomers and everyone just gets on brilliantly and just really good. Yeah, I’d definitely definitely say go for it. Brilliant. Hey, Heat. Heat.
