I'm in the market for a new gravel/road bike. I've been riding a Trek 920 for years, and it fits great and is super comfortable for long rides. I've been running 700×50 tires on it for years. It excels at a lot of things, but it's kind of a tank weight-wise. I'm in the market for a new gravel bike after selling off my carbon road bike and have been interested in the Salsa Warbird but trying to explore my options. Budget is around $5k and I'd like to explore electronic shifting options. I like the idea of a Rival/GX AXS mullet combo but haven't ridden one yet. My 920 is 2x, but my MTB and fatty are one by, all GX. I like the geometry of the 920, and would like to be a bit more upright than I'm seeing from a lot of the lighter carbon builds. I'll probably slap a Redshift stem on there and either a Salsa Cowchipper or maybe a Redshift bar. Open to trying out a new Topshelf bar too. I have my 920 for touring/bikepacking, so this one would be more for speed, maybe a frame bag and handlebar bag, so cargo isn't a huge concern. Bonus if I can run fenders. I'd also like something that doesn't rely on a lot of proprietary parts (integrated stems, headsets with internal routing, etc). I've been trying to compare geometries with BikeInsights/Geometry Geeks, but I'm not real knowledgeable on the topic.
