Recently was given this bike, can anyone tell me what it is?

I was told it is a Schwinn Letour, but the serial number doesn’t match anything on their website. It doesn’t even seem to follow any of the formats they have used. Letours of that era also didn’t have Cantilever brakes afaik, but I am certainly not a Schwinn expert.
