Two motorbike riders died and another suffered significant injuries during a British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park on Monday.
English rider Owen Jenner, aged 21, and New Zealand rider Shane Richardson, 29, were fatally injured in an 11-bike crash at the first corner of the opening lap.
Tom Tunstall, 47, was transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital with significant back and abdominal injuries.

British star Owen Jenner, 21, and New Zealand’s Shane Richardson, 29, were both fatally injured when a crash shortly after the start of the race caused a chain reaction of collisions.
Owen was treated trackside and taken to the circut’s medical centre but succumbed to a ‘catastrophic head injury’, the racepark’s management said.
Shane, who suffered severe chest injuries, received the same treatment and was sent off to Royal Stoke University Hospital but died on the way.

This had been the opening weekend of the British Superbikes season, which is scheduled to run for eight rounds across the UK, before three ‘showdown’ events. New Zealander Richardson was racing for the Astro-JJR Hippo Suzuki team, while British star Jenner was with Rapid Honda.
The Supersport Championship serves as a support series to the main Superbikes event. Richardson finished eighth in last year’s standings after earning 146 points, while this was Jenner’s second year racing in the championship.
