I’m looking at cheaper options for getting a road bike. I plan to use it mostly for training once or twice a week, plus cruising around occasionally. I’m swooned by the older retro frames but I know nothing of the standards and components back then. I’m also planning on eventually using the bike for a race (triathalon once per year at most, non-competitively) so preferably I’d get something that wouldn’t hold me back too much in terms of speed/efficiency.

I’ve found a [1974 LeJeune](https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3503775/) road bike in my size for $300. It’s gorgeous, but I don’t know anything about it or the components, and I’m not having a lot of luck finding information on it.

For more than twice the price, there is also this [Cramerotti](https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3698801/) road bike that looks like a pretty serious machine. Again I was unable to find much information about this frame, but the components seem like this could be a decent value proposition.

What can I look for if I go to take a look at these bikes? Should I stay away from either of them? How bad will maintaining and finding replacement parts be?

Any comments or information about these frames and componentry is appreciated!
