I wanted to share my latest experiment with Trek Marlin 6. I threw a faster Maxxis Aspen 170 TPI tire on the back and… WOW, the difference is noticeable! Average speed increased by 2 km/h, and the ride became smoother and more dynamic. It fits my preferences perfectly, but after testing I will assess whether I will replace the front Ikon with the Aspen 60TPI.
I was wondering if any of you have also experimented with light tires on hardtails and what effects you have noticed? Maybe you have other proven options for the back that improve speed and ride comfort?
