want to thank the sub.

so… im not a bike fanatic traditionally, but in the last few years ive gotten back in to the older bikes that i loved. ive never really had a modern fancy bike actually. i also never knew that my 1982 specialized sequoia was all that specials until recently. i just liked the way it felt to ride: steel so nice.

i think it was about 8~9 months ago i saw a post here at the sub about someone finding an alex singer bike in a dumpster and read through. i was stunned to see all the info and learn about this whole universe of bicycle wonder. because there were so many people doubting (as i supposed there might be know with this post), i felt i should post what happened to me today.

i went into a thrift store with my wife: old nice forks, super fancy water bottle, cast iron griddle, leather jacket, or who knows what. looked in the corner and saw two bikes, one was this alex singer. the other bike said $50, but unfortunately this alex singer was unmarked. i have a special talent for finding the stuff in the thrift stores with the prices removed. kinda frustrating because in some shops you cant purchase the item unless there is a manager/pricer present to put a price on the item. i was scared that there wouldnt be one available on a saturday night, but i was lucky. i waited patiently while the manager came over and put an identical $50 price on it. bought it along with a couple of $2 sale shirts and a hoodie for my sweetheart wife that is so happy for me to find a nice bike even though i already have 6~7 others. i didnt even really know for sure until i got home what it was. it was just itching in my mind that this was a special bike. (it looked pretty great in the shop thought too.)

i never would have know if it werent for the sub and that mixte alex singer dumpster find posting. it planted the seed of awareness in my mind so i was ready when the opportunity presented. i guess its really true that these crazy things happen. best news is that i might be able to make it work for me. (its a little small though.)
