Central Europe Bike 2019 – Vienna to Budapest, 240 miles (385 km)
August 25 – September 1, 2019
3 countries – Austria, Slovakia, Hungary. We booked with Intrepid travel and the leader’s name was Tomi. He was excellent. He had great knowledge of the route, the history, the places to stop and all the languages. Our van driver was Davor. Again, excellent. I highly recommend this bike tour.
Mostly flat riding, much of it paved. Some gravel, even some mud (which was fun!). Don’t be intimidated by the distance, you can do it. If you’re a serious cyclist, don’t expect to be challenged, just enjoy the views and being with fun people. We kept a 12.5 mph (20 km/hr) pace most of the time. They gave us mountain bikes that were in decent shape, but not brand new. Enjoy!
