Soon after leaving Betty’s Bay, in the Western Cape, in South Africa, I arrive in Kleinmond, and I stop to recharge my battery and for lunch. The first place, strangely refuses to let me charge my battery, but luckily, the second place accepts and the food is absolutely amazing. As I eat a lot, the people near by notice me and a Swiss man comes to talk to me, to know where did I come from with this strange tricycle and this huge appetite. In the end, he pays for my meal.
After this wonderful lunch, I resume my way towards Hermanus, meeting quite a few very friendly people on the way. Before reaching Hermanus, I go to a place where they make wine to see if I can try some. After realizing that it was foolish to want to drink wine while riding on the road, I finish my way to Hermanus where I stay in a beautiful and very well organized backpackers.

  1. I’m surprised Kino hasn’t bought a spare battery yet, im hoping he’ll get one before he leaves south Africa, things might get very tough with close to zero charging points in a long drive. Please mr Kino update us about the battery situation.

  2. Im curious Yves, sometimes when you meet a fan they have a regional or local handshake custom like the gentlemen at the 30 minutes mark. Do you know many handshakes after 3+ years of meeting people?

  3. Nice to see, We were in the exact same spot about a week ago, The western cape is beutifull, you should try the wine farms along side the road 🙂 Great Video

  4. So sad I grew up in Pretoria and worked in town and then it was safe to walk the streets.40 years ago. Even Durban as kids on holiday every year. Now also unsafe. I wonder why😮

  5. A man who loves his food, 😂. I use maps.me, also offline maps and it has worked great for me from South Africa, through the Niger Delta and Turkey to the streets in Tbilisi in Georgia.

  6. Black Africans from outside of South Africa love to lie and say that they're South African to Europeans. Come on, man. Just say that you're Gabonese. Worse when they immigrate to Europe and cause trouble in Europe then say that they're South African when theyre caught. Black South Africans don't speak French and in general, no one speaks French in SA regularly enough for one to be that fluent.

  7. Broke my heart when they other guy said that he didn't enjoy the Durban experience. Durban could easily be like Western Cape or better. Just one problem in the way… 3 letters.

  8. The first lady was typical: Too stupid to understand and very limited knowledge of English. It's not that they don't want to help you, they just can't intellectually grasp your request – always the winning combination. 😮

  9. Hi Yves, love you so much! Watching from China! Black and poor doesn't necessarily equal dangerous (and this isn't coming from you) I'm just noticing a general trend given around safety in South Africa. Had you gone past khayelitsha I don't think anything would have happened to you, as for "Durban is dangerous" again Cape Town statsitically has more crime. The undertones behind such messaging is weird because we all know Cape Town has a lower black population but higher crime stats, so it becomes awkward as to how people define "feeling safe". I don't mean to make this political but its just a general observation, especially given the rhetoric right now under the Trump administration. Its a bit ironic that people say avoid the highly black populated areas because if there was truly a genocide (again you never said this, just pointing out what is said in the media) surely wouldn't those be the safer areas? There's clearly a contradiction. One day go with a guide to Mzolis and enjoy it for yourself. Black does not mean danger… sending lots of love ❤

  10. Hi Yves. Just thought you might be interested to know that currently the portion of Table Mountain (Chapman's Peak and a few other areas) is currently closed due to those sections of the mountain being on fire. It is funny to have fire at this tome of year as we mainly get ot in the summer but I believe, like most fires on the mountain, that these are 100% man-made and intentionally set

  11. I find it astonishing that there is not a lively discussion dedicated to the "elephant in the room"? It is obvious from your vlogs that the races live completely separate/segregated lives. Let alone interracial couples, i didnt observe interracial friends walking about the streets..and this is 2025? Yes i am sure interracial (by that i mean blk/wht) couples and friends exist but i suspect it to be extremley few and far between.
The other reality check: One wonders if white South Africans would roll out their glowing red carpet for you everywhere you went, if you were a black man on a tricycle?
Perhaps you should probe these thorny issues a bit more as i am certain it will be a much welcome topic for many.

  12. I am glad your hair has grown back.. what a bunch of skellums! Always pleased to hear your approving comments about our Western Cape. Bon Voyage Ami, en merci beacoupe.

  13. some women out here are averse to helping out a man especially if you're not paying and when they give you that stupid perplexed look pretending they cannot understand charging, then you know you're in trouble and you're not getting help. why we still open doors, pull out seats and chase after purse snatchers as a standard i do not understand

  14. Sorry to see you struggle to get good service at such a "fancy" place. It makes my heart bleed😒 26:00 Some people giving you service just dont look like they care. Stay safe❤🙏🏻

  15. Thoroughly enjoyed this journey. You can really see the friendliness, hospitality and beauty of South Africa here! Well done! watching from Malawi….
