1st Bikepacking Adventure 2025 in Czechia was a success in the end. 10°C first day turned 1°C at night. I was hesitant to go and I am very happy I did. 1st day of any adventure is always a little anxious. Did I take everything? What will be the weather like? Packing at home takes me at least half a day. I triple check everything. Mounting the bags on the bike is another story. Riding on roads during the day, offroad in the evening and morning.

It’s surprising how much cold hands can make your whole body cold. 10 degrees is about my favourite temperature for riding. Some cheap hand guards (€25) and some decent 3 season touring gloves(€90) with some insulation should be fine down to 7 degrees and not too sweaty if temperatures rise.
