Today me and my cycling buddy Mike, AKA Black Pudding man, met up with a few of our fellow local riders from the gang as we set off from our home town nestled in the foothills of the Pennines and headed into the flat lands of Cheshire.
The route took us through some of the industrial parts of Lancashire and more importantly, those lovely flat Cheshire country lanes, where at times, the pace picked up quite a lot !
The planned café stop at Knutsford didn’t go quite to plan, so we decided to head on towards Glazebury where we knew there was nice little Tearoom where we could replenish the energy levels and talk about the joys of cycling.
With a running narration, maps and so much more. I hope this video offers you some inspiration and motivation to get out there and to go for a ride…

  1. Good to see you back out with the lads Daz! 💪🏼 I really appreciated your videos with your adventures and challenges when when I took up road cycling after lockdown. I always wondered whether I could ever average 18+ or climb hills like you do.

I have achieved this, but sadly my love affair for road cycling is gradually waning as the roads get worse, the drivers become even crazier, and I just find a lot of other road cyclists generally rude and miserable. I don’t experience this on a mountain bike.

Having said that, I did ride through Leigh a week last Sunday on my road bike having just come off the Leigh branch of the Leeds Liverpool on the way to visit the Phoenix Club in Farnworth where they filmed Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights for a bit of an adventure. Shame it was a gusty westerly as I had to ride back over Belmont in to Rivington to the cafe after 45 miles then on to home near Southport a further 35+ miles. 😭

Doing the Leeds Liverpool canal on a Surly fat bike in a day in June, hoping for a dry spell! 🙏🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

  4. Awesome runs Daz and your right about Bolton I was brought up there and the town centre in the 70s 80s was very nice with the likes of Preston’s of Bolton Whitaker’s,Fountains in the precinct ect but year after year of Labour council mismanagement and bringing in every migrant they could get there hands on now means that all the shops have closed there are beggars everywhere and everyone seems to go to BURY to shop .Anyhow next time your in Cultheth there is a new cafe in the Methodist Church called The Olive Branch which you would have passed on your right very nice very clean and a good breakfast or cake well recommended.Catch you soon Mike.
