The Weekend Mud Pluggers try a new 50 mile self-planned route on byways around east Hertfordshire and northwest Essex to take in picturesque villages and views over rolling hills and leafy woodlands in glorious sunshine.
Swampy tests a new method of navigation with OS Maps on the handlebars and revives her confidence in the CRF450 through fords, stony hills, rutted tracks and woodland trails. Get on board the Fantic with Flipper and a new Go Pro 10 camera that makes the most of this gorgeous route, pretty much all suitable (in dry conditions at least) for both dirt bikes and adventure bikes.
And a quick shout out to Hertfordshire and Essex County Councils for well-signed and well-maintained byways, plus online, easily accessible definitive maps that make route planning a lot easier.
And a note for greenlaners – another shout out to the many cheerful and gracious horse riders and gorgeous horses we had the pleasure to meet along the way – this is a prime area for horse lovers!
