I had been refreshing Canyon’s website for a matcha splash Grizl in 2XS since March. I wanted a 1x (first the CF 7 with dropper, later opened my search to the CF 8 with split seatpost). Less than two weeks ago, during my daily refresh, I clicked on the CF 8 2x. There it was, a 2XS. I gasped and clicked purchase.
It was delivered less than a week later and I had it built within two hours (pausing to take pictures, read the instructions, and watch their assembly video). I am not a DIY-er and if I can do it, truly anyone can. As silly as it may sound, I am proud of myself.
I’ve put almost 50 miles on it so far and I’m loving it! It was the color that drew me in. I know the Grizl tends to be “overdone” online and I was afraid the more-aggressive geometry may lead to pain/issues for me (I’m a comfort rider) but I’m happy to report, it’s a pleasure to ride and it doesn’t cause numb hands (a first for me, flat or drop bars).
I figured I can swap the 2x for a 1x in the future although it’s nice to have the ability to drop a bunch of gears at once. I like the simplicity and aesthetic of a 1x. We’ll see. Does anyone know how many gears I would miss going from this GRX 810 2x to the new GRX 1x 12 speed?
Thanks for sharing in my excitement!
