I'll be the first to admit I don't know shit about fuck with mtbs. I'm a roadie. A couple years ago I bought this because my gf was bugging me to get a mtb before we went to WNC. In like 3 years now, I probably haven't put but ~250 miles on this bike. I just don't enjoy mtb like I do road. She also says it's "too much bike" for around here (Central OH) and she's probably right. My criteria was really just "does it go over rocks and roots" and "is it within my budget". Also it's a L and I should honestly be on a M since I'm 5'11. I've checked ebay sold listings but narrowing down the same year, with upgraded parts, etc, is almost impossible.
I have not ridden this bike hard, for the fact that I'm incapable. 😂. The hardest action this has seen was a handful of runs down the DH track in Massanutten VA. Otherwise 80% of what I've ridden it has been on XC single track around Central OH. It's seen a couple rides in Boone, and a couple rides in Moab.
Below is what the previous owner sent me a few years ago. The only change is I put a 30t ring (and new chain) on it when we were in Moab in 2023 because I'm a weak bitch and needed easier gearing. 😂😂😂. My buddy who does a lot of mtb said the wheels are pretty nice and if he didn't have a superboost frame, he'd buy them.
Remedy – Size L – 2014 Trek Remedy 9 29er. 140mm travel front and rear. Fox Factory 34 CTD and Fox DRcV shock both Push tuned (yes! That Push…). Running a Scott Twinloc suspension remote for CTD on both. Fork has new uppers and negative air spring upgrade. Full Shimano XT M8000 drivetrain and brakes, 32t chainring and 11-42 cassette with a new chain. Wheels are Stan's Flow MK3 hoops laced to Hope Pro 4 hubs with stainless steel driver with Sapim Force spokes and alloy nipples. Tires are Schwalbe Hans Dampf 2.35 front and rear. Crankbrothers Highline dropper post. Hope thread together bottom bracket and Chris King headset. Race Face Atlas 780mm 31.8 clamp bars and Crankbrothers Iodine 3 stem in 100mm. I am 6'2" and the bike has always felt a tad small for me but I liked it that way for the snappy handling feel. If you wanted to make the bike fit more like a medium a simple swap of the stem (I have a Crankbrothers Iodine 3 stem in 80mm) would shorten the reach.
