I got this bike second hand for £30! It’s a Cyril Guimard, originally owned by a French lady who had bought it in Paris and used it for many years.

The bike is stunning, such a lovely ride. It is in usable shape and recently undergone a check up and repair by the previous owners, although makes an awfully loud noise when braking.

I want to fix up this bike as best as I can for it to look and feel a bit more new. I’m a new cyclist so I don’t know much about bikes. How could I get the braking to be smoother and make less noise? Is there any way to get rid of the rust and refresh the paint at all? Maybe these questions are for another sub.
