In this week’s spring ride, we explore a lesser-known but fascinating side of Gozo, Malta—from village charm to urban ruins and secluded beaches. 🚴‍♂️🌿

We start from the heart of Xagħra, cycling past its picturesque village square and the majestic Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady. After that, it’s off to Calypso’s Cave, where the scenic belvedere offers jaw-dropping views of Ramla Bay. 🏖️

Next comes the highlight: a visit to the abandoned Ulysses Lodge. Once a thriving hotel and event venue in the 1980s, it now stands as a graffiti-covered shell—perfect for urban explorers. Despite its crumbling state, it offers some of the best views of Ramla Bay. I take you through the old patio, crumbling rooms, and even the wedding hall where I once attended a wedding decades ago. 🎨🏚️

We continue downhill along a clay path (damaged by recent rain) toward Ramla Bay, then ride further to the tranquil San Blas Bay, where I found myself totally alone on this hidden beach. 🌊☀️ After a quiet moment of reflection, I tackled the steep 100m climb out—with a well-deserved breather at the top!

The adventure wraps up with a ride to Ta’ Sopu Watchtower, a historic 17th-century lookout turned WWII communication post, perched on a rocky coastal path. We end back in Xagħra with a classic black coffee in the square. ☕
