  1. I love Berkeley's stories! It's kind of nice to have a "detective" that screws up and gets there in the end more by trial and error than by almost supernatural brain power. And yes, Roger can be annoyingly cocky and surprisingly dense sometimes, but lovably able to admit his mistakes and his humor makes these books more of a romp than many from that era. The pleasure would be much higher with a good human reader, but (sigh) this is better than nothing. Thanks for posting!
