cycling towards the green expanse of Southamptons parks part of the city’s extensive park system. Pedaling through the parks, i pass the Cenotaph, a solemn reminder of the city’s sacrifices in past wars.

The ride continues towards the High Street, the historic heart of Southampton. As i navigate this central thoroughfare, i am cycling along a route that has been vital to the city for centuries. Keep an eye out for the remnants of the medieval city walls, a glimpse into Southampton’s past.

i then approach the area where Southampton Castle once stood, a key Norman fortification. Though the castle is no longer present, the historical significance of the site is palpable.

Finally, i arrive on Bernard Street, a crucial link connecting the city centre to the bustling waterfront. im now in close proximity to Southampton’s historic docks, a reminder of the city’s long-standing maritime heritage and its role as the port of departure for the Titanic.
