I love cycling in Belgium when the weather is good. But there are some bad parts…

  1. Glad to see you like our "Dijk" lanes. You can follow almost every river in BE along those lanes! I live at 3km from a Dijk next to the Schelde and I can ride it for kms and kms and never have to ride roads where cars can ride, absolutly love it.

  2. Feels strange and super nice at the same time seeing a video of you riding the bike paths 'round my hometown which I ride on a daily basis. When you're around next time, let me know and I can show you what Belgium has to offer even more (the good and the bad 😉 )

  3. As a Dutchie, can confirm Belgium and the Netherlands are quite similar when comparing cycling infrastructure. Sometimes the bike lanes are bumpy and not well maintained… But its the same in the Netherlands too… And its not that often anyway. We're spoiled, I think. 😅

  4. I think the amazing thing is that in both Belgium and the Netherlands they shift cyclists away from cars! Because sqidgy people and big metal objects flying around (with most people looking at their phones) don't mix overly well.

  5. Love it Chris – immediately recognized the path you were on at the start 🙂 Its part of a loop I ride from Brussels and includes not only the riverside paths (and canal tow paths) but also a long section of "ravel" – bike path of tarmacked disused rail line and also paved farm tracks open only to bikes and tractors and the cycle "highway" from Antwerp to Brussels via Mechelen. Love the section of this ride from Duffel to Lier and onto the Albert canal afterwards, part of which you were on in this clip… 😉

  6. The only thing i hate about my own country (belgium) is how dangerous it is around rush hour. I assume its the same in the UK. But drivers rather kill a cyclist or two than arrive 5 seconds later to their destination.
