My dads fx 3 front wheel seems to be misaligned how can we fix this?… we were trying to fix the brake pads rubbing the rotor so I adjusted the quick release bolt and got the brake pad rubbing noise to stop but then noticed that the wheel is slightly off center… so we re adjusted the quick release held the tire so it was centered and then tightened up the quick release bolt again and the wheel looked pretty centered but the brake pad rubbing noise came back and was even worse… long story short is seems we can either have the wheel slightly off center and have no brake rubbing noise or have the wheel centered and have the brake pads make the rubbing sound. Are we doing something wrong? It it possible the fork is misaligned from the factory? I don’t understand why the brake pads would rub when the wheel is centered but not when it’s slightly off center. We will probably take it to the bike shop this week but I figured id ask on here for some idea of whats going on. I added a picture, you can see my thumb easily slide in one side of the fork whereas on the other side only the tip of my thumb fits.

Loosen the small fitting on the other side of the fork where the skewer threads in (usually a 3mm Allen wrench) make sure the wheel settles all the way into the dropouts – re-tighten that fitting – then move on to the brake again if it is rubbing. This is common with Trek bikes using the thru-skew – the fitting on the other side of the fork can force the wheel to be mis-aligned if it is missed during assembly.
