I was surprised to see a section of the historic wall at Hartwell being taken down, but don’t worry, I explain why in the video. Other than that, I couldn’t see very many changes to Oxford Road. They have laid some new tarmac, though, so all is not lost!

  1. Thanks for another update. According to the HS2 website the contractors were also working on Meadoway but I think you turned back before getting that far. Meadoway access is now closed until mid June I think for the gas main work you mentioned further up the road. Slightly off topic I know but I would love to know what all the occupants of those cars in the compound are actually doing ? Bear in mind there are probably similar numbers in the compounds at Thame Valley and Small Dean. You see few workers actually on site ( I could not get beyond 10 in this video) or few earth movers actually doing anything. Surely we are well beyond the detailed planning stage now ? The newly appointed Chief Exec of HS2 has said that a "re-set" is required. He had better get on with it otherwise it will be over budget again.

  2. look up _ hydroseeding _ it's normally used on banks next to roads/ railways _ it's grass seed sprayed from a tank on a trailer or a 4×4 with the aid of water _ usually contains fertiliser and a binding agent that has a colour to allow the operator to see where the material is landing on the area being seeded

  3. The work taking place in the last video was almost certainly related to road surfacing (planers, pavers, etc), and seemed to be around the T-junction spurs. You can see this at 4:06 and 4:35 – notice the spots on the red crossing texture? That's from a sand-patch test that measures how far a known volume of granular material can be spread on a new road surface, and results on a skid resistance value.

  4. From what you mentioned on the last update, there was something to do with the VRS (vehicle restraint system) mentioned in the closure. But my uneducated eye couldn't pick anything obvious out.

  5. REAL SHIT Crap design.. The designer of the road get 1/10 for making a path, no crash barriers, no lights, its a traffic designer.. For revenge we invite the "traffic design bridge team" to cycle their bridge.. unassisted.

  6. An inadequate footpath / cycleway, such a waste of an oppurtunity to provide some decent infrastructure which could be extended later. The track is too narrow, pedestrians not separated, minimal separation from the carriageway. Tight bends in places are not helpful. Meanwhile the government pays billions each year for migrants to stay at home. What a waste of an opportunity to build something decent.
