I’ve had the Trek FX3 for a month and just completed my first 100k ride with it yesterday. I want to monitor my cadence, but the Gen 4 FX3 removed the DuoTrap socket, so I can’t install the Bontrager DuoTrap sensor.

Is there any easy, inexpensive, and reliable way to monitor cadence? I don’t want to install a power meter pedal or crank — I’m using flat pedals.

Garmin speed and cadence sensor. I don’t think anyone is using the duotrap anymore. The Garmin is cheap and works great and you can swap it between bikes easily.

Duotrap was old tech, needing additional magnets.

You can get sensors from everywhere now. I think AliExpress have options from around $10 that work just fine, and so dual duty as either speed or cadence depending on where you mount them (not that speed sensors are needed with gps everywhere)
