Cycling from Salt’s Mill (the Early Music Shop) at SALTAIRE over the top into the WORTH VALLEY to OAKWORTH (famous for the Railway Children film) (not going as far as Haworth of Bronte sisters fame) and the WORTH VALLEY RAILWAY, then over the top again to REDCAR TARN, then down to STEETON and SILSDEN, then back to Saltaire via the LEEDS LIVERPOOL CANAL tow path including the FIVE RISE LOCKS at BINGLEY.

Yesterday I went up Altar Lane in Bingley, I failed miserably, too early in the season for steep climbs like that. Did you come across that really horrendous mile of towpath with boulders, cavernous ruts and tree roots? It's somewhere near Silsden/Steeton.
5 rise is an 18% gradient, thankfully only 100 m in length. That 'luxury' tarmac surface is recent. I'm guessing they'll put path gravel on top and then it's like cycling on treacle, until it beds in that is.
The first half of the ride looked hard work in places, but you did it and did it well, so well done. 🚴♂️🚴♂️
Familiar with most of those roads, you rode past my house in the earlier part of the ride. The towpath section between Silsden and Kildwick is closed at the moment for resurfacing. It’ll be a great route once that’s completed.
