Mountain bike roadtrip French and Belgian Ardennes
Quietly awakening from ‘mtb hibernation’, we start looking upwards again with enthusiasm. The sky is blue, the trails are drying up. It’s time to get out there again. Looking for the real trails!
During the winter period, we always plan again for the coming mountain bike season. Bit looking for a place where we haven’t been yet and where the weather is potentially nice at the end of March. Finale Ligure we know, have been to many times and is ideal as a pre-season spot, however, not new to most. Where can we go? After spending some time looking around the Mediterranean for a high concentration of trails, we came upon Marseille.
Marseille has many trails in the area
If you look on trailforks, you see bizarrely many trails around Marseille. That called for more research. Using some searches on Youtube, we found lots of great trails, at least the way it looked on the videos. Enough research, we just went!
The weather had other plans
Weirdly, the weather has turned around a bit this ‘end of winter period’. The southern countries in Europe are all reporting rain, lots of rain! Obviously, we don’t fancy that, especially since around the Ardennes a good 16-plus degrees is forecast. Change of plans. We are going to Les Hautes-Rivières and Remouchamps for a mini road trip through the Ardennes.
