We planned to visit Menton in France before crossing the border in to Italy but due to the lemon festival in Menton, we found it impossible to find anywhere to stay in our motorhome. We had no choice but to move on, so decided to motor on over to Italy.
This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we ended up finding the most perfect spot to stay for a few days in a quiet Italian village called Santo Stefano al Mare. It was not at all touristy and very authentic Italy, exactly what we hoped to find on our European tour.
We loved it so much we ended up staying another night and cycling in to San Remo from there.
