Here I take you on a ride into town from Nether Poppleton all the way over the A1237 bridge towards Rawcliffe Bar hitting the National Cycle Route NCN65 towards Beningbrough following the river path over the Clifton Ings behind Homestead Park and following the route past Clifton Bridge, St Peter’s School Boathouse under Scarborough Railway Bridge taking Marygate towards Bootham. Stopping for a red light at Bootham Bar I head up through the City Centre down High Petergate onto Low Petergate taking a right onto Pavement passing Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate for a short few meters. I head up through the city taking High Ousegate and crossing onto Bridge Street towards Micklegate. A stop at the lights again as I cycle up Micklegate taking a left onto Priory Street stopping at the Priory Street Centre to film video content for a project I worked on.

There’s a lot to be said for active travel! I used a front rack on my fixed gear bike and a courier bag on my back to take all the kit I needed to film video content for a project in 2022. I travelled from my home by bike to Darlington Railway Station and then cycled from the station to visit my Mum in Nether Poppleton. I took my Insta360 One R camera to film my ride back into the city and thought it would be a good way to show how to save a bit of money travelling using sustainable transport, adding to the fact travel time is reduced means you can spend more time with those you love. It’s a proper win-win!
