I clicked on a YouTube video as the presenter was a bit of a hottie – and now they've got me hooked on Bromptons, particularly the G-line.
However, I'm not sure about luggage options for bike touring. With something like a Tern S8i or Cube Fold Hybrid, they have normal rear racks with 25KG max load, which would allow using Ortlieb panniers and rack pack (giving 60-70 litres of capacity). IE:
Tern with Ortlieb back-roller panniers
With the Brompton, the front doesn't appear to be an issue as the Brompton Borough roll-top bag would give 10KG and 25 litres of capacity. However, something similar would be required for the rear with the following properties:
– 25-40 litres capacity.
– 100% waterproof (not water resistant) – ideally rated IP64 or higher.
– Roll-top closure.
Initially I was wondering whether it may be possible to mount something like an Ortlieb duffel bag, rack bag or dry bag between the saddle and the rear rack using molle straps. Or even an Earthpak rucksack. However, as the G-Line is quite new there aren't many pics around.
I then saw a post on Mastodon where it seems it may be possible to mount a Brompton Borough bag on the rear using a clamp on the seat post. This would give the bike a combined 20KG max load and 50 litres of capacity and would be waterproof with a roll-top closure. The weight would also be evenly distributed over each wheel.

I'm wondering whether anyone has tried mounting a Brompton Borough bag on the rear of a G-line with perhaps a less expensive clamp? Or come across any other ideas for large capacity waterproof roll-top bags for the rear.
