

Ok, so this may be a really dumb question. I'm a mom, trying to buy a used Trek Marlin for my son. He's only 5' tall and needs a size small.
I have seen a few used options locally on Facebook marketplace, like the pictures. I see that the top bar is lower and somewhat angled. Traditionally, women's bikes have been more like this rather than men's.
Is this how Trek builds the smaller bikes? It's my impression that these are men's or unisex bikes. Is that right?
I'm just afraid to get him one and that he may get hassled, so I wanted to check. Middle school kids can be such assholes.

It’s how the smaller frames are built. Also, go with the 6. The 1x drivetrain will be better for a youngster shifting gears and it’ll be a higher level of quality.
