Had some old 4k footage on my Go Pro from cycling the old Mickleover to Hilton railway line which has now been converted to a cycle path.
The old Mickleover to Hilton railway line was part of the Derby to Burton upon Trent railway line in the United Kingdom. It was primarily used for passenger and freight services but, like many rural and suburban lines, it was eventually closed due to declining passenger numbers and the rise of road transport. This closure is part of a broader pattern seen in the mid-20th century, particularly during the Beeching cuts, when many less-profitable railway lines across the UK were shut down.
The Mickleover to Hilton section of this railway line closed in 1964, which resulted in the disuse of the track between these two locations.
