  1. It's hard to look past Pog sometimes but MVDP was outstanding in the Cyclocross season this year. I think that race will only make Pogacar even stronger. I can't see anyone else other than those two winning any of the other monuments this year

  2. The climbs on the cipressa and poggio are not sufficiently steep or long to distance riders. The fact that a number of sprinters have won this race confirms it is not a climbers race. If riders like Mellier, Peterson, Van Der Poel and Van Art make it to the final two climbs, it will be very hard for a Podgachar, Evanapoel, Vinegard ro win this race. Mohoric used a novel dropper seatpost to in on the decent. I t takes something lucky or unusual to propel a grand tour podium rider to first plave at Milan San Remo.

  3. I didn't think I'd be stoked if Van der Poel won, but I am. What an amazing finish with three of the ultimate superstars of the sport sprinting it out. Loved it so much.

  4. Race was awesome. Not sure what Pogi could do better, maybe have more guys with him to top of Cipressa. Poggio is too small to make a difference. So if he keeps doing it one year he will get lucky. It only took one Van Der Poel to beat Pogi. Best is we don't have to wait too long…Friday I believe it is E3 race plus add Van Aert. Good job covering this Greg

  5. MY pre-race prediction from 3 days ago was pretty darn accurate: I predicted Ganna, Matthews and 1 of the Alpecin riders on the podium. The final results were. MVDP, Ganna and Poggi on the podium, with Matthews 4th!

Amazing race and finish. Huge kudos to Ganna for looking up the road on the Poggio and seeing MVDP and Poggi ahead. And having the heart to bring them back and contest for the win was the most insane thing I've seen. Can't wait until next year.

  6. Maybe post-Cipressa, Pogi made the mistake of launching too many attacks? After all, the three had made a good enough break from the peloton, right? Maybe he should have let Mathieu and Filippo pull him along for a while and thereby saved some energy that he could have released in the final km?

  7. Van Poel brought the race to a sprint, and outwitted pogacar because he is naturally not a sprinter. Pogacar can only win with a long range attack where the climbings are steep.

  8. Light riders can only drop big riders if the climb is steep and long enough otherwise the big rider would just go anaerobic to match the W/kg and hold on for a few seconds.

  9. It's the race that frustrates Pogi the most the parcours doesn't really suit him. But he really wants to win so he keeps trying. He needs more hills that's why he's won Il Lombardia the past 4 years.

  10. Small hills like this are not enough to shake MvdP. Pog will have to wait for the bigger more testing Ardennes courses like LBL. Brilliant to see two generational talents slugging it out today though. Glad that MvdP won👍👍

  11. MVP and Ganna put on a great show, congrats to those guys for that hard earned win. I love watching Pog race and seeing him win, but it's only fun if there are other riders that can actually give him a run.
