Hi all,

I am looking to get into MTB, most interested in doing smooth fast trails and jumps / drops. I have been shopping for protective gear and not yet been out riding (not since I was in my teens when I did do a few small jumps and trails etc).

My problem is I was given an old but good condition second hand bike as a present ([this one specifically](https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/mountain-bikes/updated-carrera-fury-review/?image=1&type=gallery&gallery=1&embedded_slideshow=1)) and I honestly don’t like it very much. I cant get the seat low enough and it feels quite big and heavy and generally not very comfortable. I think it might also be more focused on XC rather than trails and jumps.

I am wondering then, as a beginner, is it worth it to try and trade it in and upgrade to a bike specifically focused on jumps and trails, or at this stage is it not worth it and should I just use it for now and think about an upgrade once I am better?
