  1. Let us know down below 👇what you think of the decline in bike sales in general and the potential dip in young people taking up cycling. 🚴‍♀💬

  2. Cycle paths around here are just dangerous at junctions, obviously designed by someone who's never been on a bike. (Eg. Barrier pushing you into the path of cyclist coming up hill on narrow path as a traffic calming ploy). The pot holes on the road make that equally unpleasant so I don't enjoy my 7mile commute to work as much as before.

  3. I live in the middle of the US. In my area an organization called NICA is doing amazing things to promote youth cycling. They make it easy for enthusiastic adult cyclists to get involved and they do a great job of promoting the sport. I wish I had NICA growing up. I don’t know if that is why youth cycling in the US has seen an uptick but it couldn’t hurt.

  4. I think the drop in sales is caused by the poor state of our roads, they are dangerous and not fit for purpose. I have a road bike but find the roads treacherous and not enjoyable and I think you guys should talk about this more on the channel as a major problem of our times.

  5. Schrader valves are so crap Simon they are used on aircraft, ships, heavy industry, motor vehicles etc….why?simple, reliable, strong and able to handle high pressures. Presta cant be that crap either as its a hundred year old design stil in daily use 🤷 yep really crap😂

  6. I am an experienced rider, cycle mechanic and cycling advocate. Over the years, and because bikes are part of my very soul, I have many. According to my wife, too many, of course. However, I stopped buying new bikes 2 years ago, and not because my wife tried to stop me, but because of the consumerism, over-consumption of cycling related products and general fatigue of it all. I came to my senses so to speak, and made a promise that I am done with it all, except in the cases when new components are required to replace those worn out. If am any kind of barometer, there are perhaps many other like me, who have had enough of 'keeping up with the Jones's.'

  7. The important question is 'who are we?'. I'm not too worried about the current situation at all, since I don't work in the bicycle industry, and have nothing invested in it.

  8. Back in the day when I was a junior (telling 20 years ago), I feel like there was much more for clubs and club riders to do. More closed off tracks, easier access to try-out bikes, it was all a lot of good fun. Also roads where much saver and more open to ride on even here in the Netherlands. I honestly don't know if I would trust my kids to start cycling once they're 8 years old like I was when I started.

  9. Cost of new bikes is insane. If companies can get you to spend 8000.00 plus on a bike, great for them but is it going to make the rider any better than a 2000. 3000 dollar bike and can the rider show how much better his times are because he took a couple of ounces off?

  10. I wonder if the decline in the UK is based on all the "war against cars" propaganda. In the US we have our own huge problems, but most of our conservative propaganda is aimed elsewhere.

  11. Would love a new bike and willing to pay for one but bemused as what to get , hit my 70th birthday in April , still fit and active and ride at least twice a week on a road bike , need everything replaced from my 23 year old kit , shoes are looking tired for sure…

  12. Gaming has been taking over sports since late 1990s, that's where the decline has began. To make things worse, there are never ads for cycling/bikes, it's like a sport that you laugh at until you randomly get into it via friends/relatives.
