HIKING along the VIKING WAY in the Lincolnshire Wolds | Walesby and Tealby | The Ramblers Church | Lincolnshire Churches
In this video, I explore the popular ramblers’ route along the Viking Way. The circular hike begins at Normanby Le Wold (the highest settlement in Lincolnshire), then progresses to Walesby (the home of the Ramblers’ Church) and finally onto the picturesque village of Tealby (the former home of the Tennyson D’Eyncourt family).
In Tealby, I rest for a superb Sunday roast at the old thatched roof pub, The King’s Head. Then, in an attempt to return to the car before the end of daylight, I return on a different trail to Normanby Le Wold as the golden sun set amongst the Lincolnshire countryside.

Such a great walk this, looks stunning in the weather you had. First time I did it I ended up falling on the hills due to the amount of rain – it was a proper cartoon style legs running on the spot!
Not noticed the Nev Cole memorial, will have to look out next time. I did the Nev Cole way as my first long distance trail. There is also a memorial bench on a route into the wolds from Fotherby. He also was part of the mass trespass on Kinder Scout! He started the Grimsby walking group too!
