At last, on my second weekend aboard the boat since purchasing it, I had a sunny day and the time to take it out for a short “test cruise” to see how it went along. I turned left from Burton Waters marina and went the two miles to Lincoln whereupon I turned around and came back. It was a glorious trip!

how long you keeping your boat at burton waters, i,m staying in yhe floating pods in july would be great to say hello
If you crash on a narrowboat the impact will occur two weeks later.
A successful first cruise on Gentian and hopefully many more to come!
You're the only commonwealth country nation left that still uses mph. 🤔 interesting, good to know
I think your boat is the perfect size for cruising and short-term camping. It might be a bit tight for full-time living aboard.
Oh how I know the struggle. I have a small 20ft sailing yacht and are moored in a harbour with a long and winding outlet to the open fiord. I allways seem to forget something important in the cabin and have no way of getting it untill I am out in open waters. Sometimes I wonder if I should make a checklist like in aeroplanes, with things to clear before dropping the mooring lines 😀
Looked like you had an absolutely nice first tour down the canal and back again except for the incident of a missing cap for the sun.
Looking forward to many more juerneys on your little narrowboat in the times to come.
Love from Denmark
New camera? Editing software? The colors look different, more vibrant. Anyway, lovely to see you back on the canals!

Cruising the Cut again, all is right with this world again
It does the heart good to see you back David wife and I spent many evenings hours watching your Cruising the cut always looked forward to them even rewatched them several times . Welcome back we missed you
Great to see you 'cruising' in a narrowboat albeit a 'short' one, do you regret selling your 'previous' Narrowboat and buying the the 'Canary' ? But floaty boaty things is good and Calorified hot water is also good.
Good Show, David. Nice that the rev counter sorted itself out 😆
Swan landing was woderfull!!
A Cruising the Cut cruise! Goody goody y um yum!
I thought this was interesting . Hope you do too. "Gentian is a masculine name of Albanian origin. Unique and sweet, it makes the meaning of the moniker somewhat of a mystery. Stemming from the Latin gentĭcus, it is thought to mean “people,” “population,” or “ancestry.” Gentian is also a subtle flower name that wouldn't be considered as popular as Rose, Daisy, or Lily."
I love seeing you cruising the canals again, even if it's a short jaunt.
A good supply of tea towels is the best way to deal with rattling pots, pans and plates.
It looks like your taking the throttle lever plate off hassorted your rev counter, let's hop that it stays sorted.
The joy of wakening up on a Sunday morning to David who has posted a vlog. Of his new narrow boat on the canal. 🙏👍🇦🇺
Nice cruising. It suits you on the narrowboat😅
Thank you
Wonderful to have another cruise with you, David! Cheerio!
Nice boat David. Nice to see you back on the cut. 👍👍👍
Splitting headache? You said you needed a hat but you didn't put one on.
All good news and great to see you back on the cut….let’s have more of these
I have absolutely missed your cruising content, and I'm so happy that you're back on a boat! As someone from the US, boat life seems to be more and more appealing as of late, happy cruising, for now I'll live vicariously through your content, thank you for sharing!
That was a nice and peaceful little cruise.
Nice to see you cruising again…
I think of 2001 as like 7 years ago, not almost quarter of a century.
3:12 If you cruise on the right-hand side, it is only logical to indicate the distance in km 🙂
Engine sounds a bit harsh. Maybe the cause of your headache. Maybe some extra soundproofing in the engine room? Noisy tappets?
" Splishy Sploshy water noises " !!!!!
David have you considered doing voice overs for the Aardman Animations? Your smooth voice and clever intonations would work very well for one of their characters. I’m sure.
Re; The barge naming question, I reckon they were up all night, then gave up. Great to see you back on the canals in a narrow boat with your wonderful witty commentary.
Great seeing you canaling again.
Ahhh… cruising the canals can be so therapeutic and relaxing for us viewers. Thanks for bringing familiar feels back!
Bad back shopping? Ahahaha
If you turn right out of Burton waters and go just over a mile, moor up, there is a very nice little cafe across the road, Colbourne’s Cafe.
Great to see you back on the cut David….maybe the adjustment on the morse control / throttle cable may have something to do with rev counter ??
You certainly got everything in "The Pool" a Odeon Cinema even a Marks and Sparks, funny what said about standing on the deck not being painful but "standing with someone while their shopping is immediately painful" a friend of mine used to say that when going shopping with the wife, but he meant painful to his wallet.
My dear sir, you've opened up a can of worms! I expect to see a song & dance number on that deck in the near future! Ha!
Think u have a .vibration off your camera.
