If you own a chain lock where the chain is LESS than 8mm in thickness, then you ought to watch this video where a thief uses nothing other than a ‘seat post’ and a bit of force, to defeat the lock.
How could this theft have been prevented? Simple – Don’t leave any slack in your chain when locking it up. If the thief wasn’t able to feed the cycle tube through a gap, then this theft could have been prevented. Also, if you lock it through the frame, WHEEL and an immovable object, then there’s a risk that they could damage the wheel, which would be pointless for any thief.
