Don't understand that Jumbo doesn't attack all three together, tháts the only thing….
This could be a sign that Kuss doesn't have the legs. The upcoming stage is more favorable to Vingegaard
Jonas far too strong and he will win the Vuelta. Too many GC contenders in Jumbo and Kuss is so important to the team and hes ridden amazing in all 3 GT but unless he leaves I think he is just forever working for Roglic and Jonas. I think Kuss has a GT win in him if he was sole leader in a team.
To the critics of JV; if anybody would leave it for Kuss to win, then it is Vingegaard, only exception is if Kuss breaks down tomorrow, then he will go all in….
I would love to see Sepp win and become a grand tour GC contender, instead of a super domestique,However TJV has at its disposal the best in the world in Jonas closely followed by Primoz.I think one of those two will win
We don't really know what TJV agreed and also I don't think they thought the others would just sit up. He took so much time because the rest just did nothing…
Pretty discussing team I'll say🧪 love your videos, but I'm done with Vuelta this year
This Vuelta has turned into a Jumbo Visma soap opera. Waiting eagerly for today's episode 😂
I don't think it was a wrong move by Vingegaard. Sepp Kuss is in his 3rd GT this year, trying to defend a lead. We don't know whether he will explode or what. In terms of form, if we can take anything from yesterday, where Roglic wasn't able to dislodge himself from the other riders and Kuss losing a few second, it would seem as they both have downgoing form, as opposed to Vingegaard who looks to be getting better in shape as the race goes on. With Ayuso all ready having announced that he saw the Angliru stage as his best opportunity to take time from the Jumbo Visma riders, the extra time cushion for Vingegaard will be good to have if Ayuso puts the Jumbo Visma riders on the defensive.
My take… I was expecting this and shared it before in other foruns. Vin is the best GC rider in the World and always gain form along the way and Kuss had already shown he might not be as strong. Roglic also does not seem to have that killer punch as we saw (Mas and Ayuso managed to bridge after his attack). Jumbo will win the big 3. Only some kind of catastrophic event would prevent it. They could chose to put all the chips into a Kuss victory which would be a great marketing move in US and Netflix, it could chose to make history by having a guy winning Giro and Vuelta (the later one for the 4th time). However, a Tour + Vuelta is surely the most impressive GC rider achievement since 2017 when Froome did the same. Let's see how this theory works in the Angliru.
Remco's absence from yesterday's action is totally aligned with the idea he will be doing the impossible to win on those crazy slopes that make his beloved La Redoute look like a faux-plat 😆
Good work spotting JV get on the radio just before his attack to (probably) get the green light to go.
I think Adam Blythe's analysis of Jonas's attack is spot on: https://youtu.be/ZmOo49zGNDw?t=83
JV will win the Vuelta for JV.
ah greedt vingegaard cant let kuss win the gc
It's interesting to see the difference in opinions under Lanterne Rouge's Youtube channel and everything I see under Instagram (VelonCC, GCN, etc.). Commenters in LR seem to understand how important JV must just ensure winning this Grand Tour. Commenters in Instagram just think Jonas is selfish, and just let Kuss stay as GC lead.
My main take is, if I were JV, as long as someone wins the GC within the team, that's all that matters, because if JV doesn't win GC, they will be ridiculed as they have 3 members in the top 3. If they lost the GC as a team, they'd be lambasted for so long for losing the once in a lifetime opportunity to win all 3 Grand Tours (or 4 if Tour of Britain counts) in a single year. Just imagine losing that opportunity because we should be 'nice' and 'reward' Sepp with the GT win. Sepp obviously wants to prove himself, but there's also the immense pressure he'd have to consider if he just said, 'just make me the main GC lead at all costs'.
That's the main risk they are holding tight to and is the agreement the top 3 have to share. We all agree we want Sepp to be GC lead, but with the final mountain stages coming up, I also don't want to see JV lose all chances to GC.
So I don't think it is wrong for Jonas to have done what he has done to reduce the risk of losing the entire GC for the team, it just so happens it is within his favour as well if he does win GC.
Tomorrow is Sepp's birthday. Jonas has declared he will honor Sepp by attacking on the Angrilu to take the Red Jersey and dedicate the victory to Sepp.
Nice to see a level headed analysis of the stage.
My God, the Sepp-fans on FB went absolutely APE-shit after this, blaming Jumbo Visma for disrespecting Sepp and Jonas for being a traitor etc.
Especially the Americans were so pissed because they have no understanding of what is actually going on – typical American.
I think most would love to see GC Kuss taking the red jersey all the way to Madrid, but if Vingegaard has the legs he should go for it and take time on the rest of the GC. I am sure Roglic and Vingegaard would be happy for Kuss to take the win, with all the work he puts in for the team. But nobody knows whether TJV will have a bad day on Angliru. If Kuss explodes, at least Vingegaard will have a larger gap to the rest of the GC contenders. I imagine that TJV will have to take a lot of crap if they end up losing the jersey and/or podium positions because they did not play all their cards while having the chance, especially with being so dominant for the majority of the race.
Dead leg 🤣😂🤣
If Kuss is dropped on Angliru, Vingegaard will be allowed to surge ahead and Roglic more likely made to assist Kuss, unless Kuss is losing lots of time in which case Roglic would be allowed to regain 2nd on GC.
Absolutely not!
The current "deal" on Jumbo's team is, that all three (Jonas, Kuss, Promoz)can make a go for it as long as they don't take any of their rivals with them! And I think that it is as fair as it could be!
A two time Tour De France winner(and current champ) should always atleast be “”allowed”” to ride for the win in a GT! Imagine Tardej being told that he couldn’t ride for the win in GT?! Of cause not!
Jonas is always best in week 3 and is simply the best right now in the race! This is not a “Me Too” where we all sit and hold hands and sing “We Are The World” kind of sport for god sakes! Tell me another Team in the history in pro cycling where a current TDF vinner has told his helper that he can ride his own chance against himself? I tell you… Jonas!
He has indeed told Kuss that in this Vuelta! But don’t expect Jonas to not do the same!
Jonas can't and should not just hand the Vuelta to Kuss. It has to be "the legs" that do the talking!
And I am thrilled as a fan of cycling that Jumbo has the right mindset… Let's race for it! If they just said… Now we are happy with Kuss-Primoz and Jonas in that order…… This race would be finnished now. And be more borring than watching paint dry!
Make no mistake, Kuss is being paid a lot of money to be a “helper”. If he is not happy with that… he can just go to another team who believes that he can win the big tours. Simple as that!
I’m all for the best man to win. Who ever that may be. All hail the next Vuelta King !!
This 4:40 chasse patate is gold !
I've got no problem with Vingegaard attacking like that, on the other hand Roglic continuing to pull with two rivals in in his wheel and no Kuss is questionable, though probably due to lack of awareness rather than anything more.
Team Chemistry is let the Best Win. The fact Sepp is ahead doesn't mean they have to hold back. It's a race within a race. Make it fun and interesting. Jimas and Roglic are superstars and competitors first. That what the sport is all about. Pure competition vs backdoor team strategies
If you are a opponent of Jonas Vingegaard, you should ensure that none of his friends are acutely ill or have been exposed to an accident 🤞At the same time, you should make sure that no one has a birthday in his immediate family 😎
Otherwise you will be hit by a hammer before you see it 💥
Kuss needs to be more assertive and stop allowing Jonas to creep. If Jonas and Primoz cant help their buddy out after all hes done for them then it really is every man for himself and they should play by those mercenary type of rules moving forward. Karma is a pain. Next year, will Kuss help these two out so well when they need it? Who knows. I wouldn't unless they doubled my paycheck.
Seems odd on the façe of it but it looks like Jumbo are allowing their top three guys free reign on the day and whoever is strongest van go for it.
JV was crying because he has to smash his friend Kuss
