More likely it was rusty because erm wax 👎
Cue stupid, unfounded, statements on the evils of chain waxing. LOL.
I love that someone else knows how to care for a waxed chain. Brilliant little note, I approve.
Took my bike to a bike shop. Attached a paper note to my chain saying “do not lubricate, chain is hard waxed”. Even told the person at the counter and they put a note on my work order. Got the bike back with the chain soaked in oil. I no longer trust anyone to work on my bike but me. I’m literally the best mechanic I know, and I have zero experience. LBS is a great place to buy things, but you can’t trust anyone these days so you just have to learn to do things yourself. I miss the old days.
