Germany’s economic engine is sputtering. Once the powerhouse of Europe, it now faces stagnant growth, collapsing wages, an energy crisis, and political turmoil. The IMF projects continued decline, and major industries—once the backbone of German prosperity—are crumbling under foreign competition and domestic policy failures.

Germany’s manufacturing dominance is fading. Once the Exportweltmeister, its auto industry is losing ground to China, with VW shutting down factories for the first time ever. The country’s reliance on cheap Russian gas and an anti-nuclear stance has left it vulnerable, forcing manufacturers to move production abroad.

But the real crisis? Germany’s extreme fiscal conservatism. High taxes, suffocating bureaucracy, and the infamous debt brake have made it nearly impossible to attract investment or stimulate growth. Infrastructure is crumbling, wages are falling, and consumer spending has stagnated since 2015.

Germany’s leaders face a choice: unleash economic potential with bold reforms—or continue the downward spiral.

  1. Neoliberal tax reduction is not a solution to this, which in then reduces government income able to be spent. A lot of german bureaucratic bottlenecks come bc of a lack of modernization, not bc “we have too many safety and protection standards”, but in reality. These standards protect people. But overall agree, that it requires more efficiency

  2. It doesn't matters what Germans Wants & Desires. As Germany is Militaryily occupied by the US. Germany's Economy, Currency, Immigiration, Police, Banking, Cheap Energy, Military, Foreign Policy all these are the things that make a nation Sovreign but All this is controlled by the US & US wrote the West Germany's Constituion which is current constituion for whole of germany now

  3. nonsense economic comments. This is capitalist propaganda. How on earn does a higher capital gains tax effect the economy in big ways. When prior to 1973 in the golden years these rates were much higher? I think your cause and effect assumptions are all nonsense and not at all correlated. Your "Conservatism" part speaks on social democratic policy, nothing to do with the Neo classic economics you are pushing on your viewers. shame on you

  4. Germany destroyed their economy because the Americans told them to. The US blew up NordStream then used the Greens as a Trojan Horse to shut down their nuclear plants, all of this to make Germany reliant on American energy imports. McMillan's Pipeline Theory of Geopolitics remains completely undefeated.

  5. Phasing out nuclear has to be one of the most pigheaded, overreactive things possible. I don’t even have Japan’s excuse of being in a place where a lot of earthquakes could occur.

  6. As german everything said is true, horrible leadership has brought us here, but Germany still got great potential. Im hopeful that we can turn things around, politicians will wake up eventually.

  7. Europe's obsession with the "climate change" con will destroy the entire continent's economy, while the U.S. (who is done with this now), China, most of Asia, and South America will continue to have cheap energy and so skyrocketing economies. Feel sorry for Europe. Thank God I no longer live there tho.

  8. Great video. When the powerhouse of the continent is facing issue, I wonder what the rest will be facing. Russia-Ukraine war is a big f*cked up for the EU and exposed their loopholes!

  9. AI-generated bullshit video. Germany will be fine and your boss Putin will remain a despot and dictator of a country with a TRUELY broken economy.

  10. I am 27 years old and was born in Germany. I worked in the manufacturing sector for 7 years, and I can tell you that Germans are afraid of investing in general. Nearly everything in germany is outdated and slow pace. In the industry, there is a saying, "As long as it works, you don't need to upgrade." In my opinion, this thought is detrimental to the economy. Everything here needs investment. The problem is that the politicians and society in general is somewhere near 49, which have no proximity to advancement.

We need reforming politics and economics

  11. Economy is doing allright. Still No. 3 BIP economy. We need to refocus a little here and there, but we have really good conditions to do so. We dont need a third world economy (russia) to be successfull.

  12. iirc, Japan had a nuclear disaster and Germany closing their own plants was one of the dumbest things. it's like not driving your car because your neighbor got into an accident.

  13. People have been giving your advice for years. Germany’s establishment is too stubborn and complacent to listen. They’re as useless as the Weimar government were before the Nazis were elected.

  14. Poor management with first world mindset that blaming others , with their arrogant and condescending attitude.
5'3 and an attitude like Zelensky

  15. Only AFD can save Germany, they are lobbying to lower taxes, deregulate the economy from bureaucracy, remove unemployment social programs which stimulates unemployment, create universal basic income to stimulate nuclear family and birth rate, lower state ownership and finally, stop importing third world immigrants into the country.

  16. German here.

While most of what is said is true some stuff is cherry picked to make it appear worse than it is.

Germany has to shift into stimulus mode non the less.

  17. False. Power plants should be all solar and thermal…. with offshore generation using waves… you are so lost.

The technology and prices are hugely superior now compared to two or even ten years ago when most people "learned about solar" but my entire snowed in farming county is usimg hydro, wind, and solar combined off lake michigan GE generators for a hydrobattery.

  18. This is such nonsense. The economy needs to be measured on quality of life for the populace, not ever-increasing growth in a finite world.

  19. "Lower taxes, lower taxes, lower taxes. Small government, bureaucracy…"
Seriously, don't you Neoliberals ever grow weary? Or stop and think?

How many more decades of the State not doing anything does Germany need for it to suddenly "unleash its potential"???

  20. Really eye-opening breakdown of Germany’s economic struggles! The part about 'Germany's long love of bureaucracy' and how it slows down investment was especially striking. It’s crazy that wind farm permits take 5-6 years to approve while other countries do it in under a year.
