I attempt cycling from Coast to Coast, there and back, across Northern England. There’s about 100 riders on the C2C2C 300km Audax challenge. I get dropped LOTS, I suffer a lot, and I get rather wet. I hope you enjoy the video.

***** MY HEATH AND FITNESS BACKGROUND *****
Many years ago, I had spondylitis, chronic fatigue, IBS and depression. 10 miles of cycling was about my limit before back pain set in. All my symptoms became much worse and I was sometimes so exhausted that I would struggle walking upstairs and I was in and out of hospital for various procedures, which seemed to make matters worse. After pleading in prayer about what to do, I believe I received the answer I needed, which was to go and radically change my diet. I ate nothing but fruit and giant salads for 6 months straight. I had a miraculous turnaround in my health, which was a massive answer to prayer. Thank you Lord!

This YouTube channel was originally created many years ago, to share what I did to recover. I’ve since changed it’s name to ‘Ayup Stuggy’, something that’s more personal to me rather than just diet focused. After this healing journey, I can now eat and do things that I would have struggled with or found impossible before. For the past year I’ve been attempting to improve my fitness after neglecting it due to too many of life’s stresses, and not enough excercise.

As you can see in my later videos, my eating is much more relaxed now. Significant healing has occurred inside me, and I’m able to cope with more ‘normal’ food that everyone else eats. However, I still prefer to eat loads of fruit, giant salads, heaps of veggies, and I try to limit my intake of meat and baked products. When with friends, and when out and about, I do now eat and enjoy these previously problematic foods.

Take care and bless you.

  1. Hi Stuart. Well done on completing that C2C2C. Looks like a great ride but pity about the downpour. I was interested in the final ride stats. Thats about the same average moving speed as myself over a number of Audaxes. So will consider this for next year. Hope to meet on an Audax at some point.

  2. 70k is too early for Jelly Babies, need to stay on proper food otherwise your body will just want sugar.

I carry enough gear to fix likely issues plus have something warm/windproof/waterproof to put on while I do it.

I'm a similar age to you and did a 300k at the beginning of the month, 200k suits me better 🙂

  3. Conditioning – get a trainer and Zwift or trainer road, do the training programs through winter four or five, 60-90 minute sessions per week. More frequent rides with intervals is much more productive that fewer long rides.
    Loose weight (be sensible)
Get some fast tubeless tyres Schwalbe Pro One or similar – the ones you've got look like 'Marathons' or similar they can be 10 – 15 watts per wheel more – if you get a trainer you'll see how massive an extra 20 watts is on your limit.
Ditch the bag of goodies, only carry what you can put in your pockets –
Tight clothing, the baggy stuff creates loads of drag once you are past 15mph, resistance is exponential to your speed!
    Nutrition – watch GCN.

  4. Sounds like great fun and a real challenge. I would definitely recommend you look seriously into proper nutrition and how to fuel endurance. Drink electrolytes every 10 mins, eat every 20, you’ll need about 90g of carbs an hour, you can’t absorb any more. That said, you did it so the talent is there!

  5. If you can average 20kph in those atrocious conditions you have to be happy with that. There will always be fitter and faster riders but I'm pretty sure the Audax website says it's not a race. Well done on completing it.
