On February 8, 1587 st the age of 44 years old, Mary Queen of Scots was executed. She had been imprisoned in England gor 19 years by her cousin Queen Elizabeth I. She was finally burried after almost 6 months at Peterborough Cathedral on July 30, 1587
Before being buried Mary’s heart and entrails were removed and secretly buried somewhere on Fatheringhay Castle grounds. The garments she wore, the block, and anything that could possibly be used as a relic was also burned. Her body was put in a heavy lead coffin where it sat for almost six months. Mary had requested to be burried at either the Basilica Saint Denis with her first husband Frances II of France or in Reims with her mother Marie de Guise. Elizabeth I denied this request. Instead Peterborough Cathedral was chosen. The coffin was finally taken after so many months in the middle of the night to the Cathedral for fear that there would be demonstrations and rioting. Mary was given a Protestant state funeral. No fellow Scotsman were present. Mary Queen of Scots was 44 years old when she died.

Queen Elizabeth I sure had some bad karma coming.
Elizabeth 1 .So he had her eliminated.
👍🏼
Why did she let her sit in prison for 19 yrs. So sad.
Poor Mary 😢
Didn't Elizabeth agonize over her decision to execute Mary? I think she was nagged and pushed to do so by her officials and counselors.
That is the most beautiful building I have ever seen.
So you want to be a Queen?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Elizabeth the first expressed this was her greatest regret.
May she rest in heavenly peace
A cage, no matter how golden, beautiful, and luxurious, is still a cage. Even the richest man in England during that time period, the Earl of Shrewsbury, had quite the dent put in his purse from having to support Mary, Queen of Scots & her entourage in the luxury and style that she was accustomed.
😇
No appeals.
😭😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video
Ty he saddest part to me, os that her son could have saved her. But since he knew that he couldnt pardon her and inherit the crown, he didnt. So sad . She was an amazing woman and monarch.
I wonder why none of sentenced queens tried to escape from prison? Some of them were sympathized by folks so could count on help. Lol I would try at least…
Elizabeth the 1st was like her father awful
