The Queensland Government is proposing to close 30-40km of what they describe as illegal trails. Most of these trails, including rather well known trails like Lost World and Never Ending Story have been around a fairly long time. The government proposes to close all trails beyond an arbitrarily set fire road for arbitrary reasons like a perceived threat.
MTB illegal trails are the #1 threat (high or very high) with ALL other threats (bushfire, pests, weeds, you name it) being most low with a couple medium.
The trails in question are generally no wider than 300mm and have been described as “safe”, “sustainable”, and “low” or “no impact” by professional reports which were commissioned by the Queensland Government. Shocking!
