Why Isn’t This Revolutionary Battery Everywhere? Go to https://ground.news/undecided for an innovative way to stay fully informed on tech, energy, the climate and more. Save 40% on the Ground News unlimited access Vantage plan with my link. Vanadium redox flow batteries are hitting the big time, and I mean big. One of the biggest Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESSs) ever is a vanadium redox flow battery that just came online in China, with an even bigger one to come in Switzerland. And there’s even more on the way in other countries too. But it raises a couple of questions: “why now,” and “why are they suddenly everywhere but North America?”

  1. 4:41 why are you pushing CCP (Chinese Communist Party) propaganda??? They are not the leader!!!!! They are pumping out new Coal Power Plants daily.

One thing they are the best at is BS!

  2. Some things I didn't hear in the video:

How toxic is vanadium in the event of a battery failure and chemical spill?

How much pollution does it produce to mine?

  3. The oil barons or lobby didn't allow green tech to proper in the West especially in America, that's why we see China is far ahead now.

  4. with the note that the largest sources are Russia and China my brain just broke thinking how far humanity could go if we weren't so damned tribal. Glad there's other sources at least but oof we have a loooong way to go society wise.

  5. I’d love Australia to step up on vanadium mining (we have a lot of deposits) and then into manufacturing. It would take a colossal movement at the federal or state level to dislodge the coal lobbying. We could be exporting and installing across the globe. 😢

  6. I'm sick and tired of hearing about political bias…. Bias is not a good measure. Because it's fluid. What was centrist politically, 30 years ago is considered leftist today. Trying to build a solid political foundation or bias, is like trying to build a house on sand… Facts and accuracy, although not perfect, are the only way forward.

  7. Western Australia's state government is also looking at flow batteries (50MW / 10hr) for remote mining towns. I believe it was chosen for its heat tolerance, as the average summer heat is 33C (91F) and during heat waves can go up to 45C (113F).

  8. There are a lot of vanadium deposits around, along with titanomagnetites, pooled with Titanium, iron and of course vanadium. Deposits in PNG and NZ are fine beach sands, so benign mining.
