Hello everyone! I hope you are well. I am soon going to start my journey to cycle around the world – one of the first countries I will be visiting is China. It's hard to find much information about cycling routes in China so would appreciate any recommendations or input you have in mind. My trip will be split in two halves of 30 days each.

I would like to avoid areas that are overly industrial/urban and ideally cycle through areas with history, landmarks and/or beautiful scenery.

First half (cycling map: https://www.komoot.com/tour/2059508196?share_token=akhQFxkml4dhD7M32c3W4aM4xSuxf7ncCrXv08Q91tBxtWbBii&ref=wtd)

– Arrive in Beijing and visit

– Hike some of the great wall of China

– Train to Shanghai and visit

– Cycle to the river towns around Shanghai (Xitang, Longfeng, Jinxi, Funan, Tongli, Wuzhen)

– Cycle to Yellow Mountain

– Cycle south through Huangling Scenic Spot and Sangqing

– Visit the Tulou in south Fujian

– Arrive in Xiamen, take ferry to Kinmen to renew visa

My concern is that south of Sangqing, the road will be too industrial/urban/uninteresting – do you suggest I go more East through central Fujian rather Jiangxi?

 Fly to Xi'an and visit

– Fly to Congqing and visit

– Cycle to Wulong Karst park and then Zhangjiajie

– Cycle south to Longsheng rice terraces and Fenghuang county (Phoenix Ancient Town)

– Cycle through Guilin and along the Li River

– Finish in Hong Kong
