The games industry is a huge global behemoth, yet one noted for its regular cycle of growth and destruction where sections of the industry burn up and are re-born anew, sadly often with collateral damage of the people involved. However, following a boom a couple of years ago, the industry is currently seeing one of its most destructive cycles of loss where jobs, projects, studios and more are being burned.
What has caused this intensive cycle and what can you do if you want to get into the industry now? Well, one of the things is – start your own games studio! In this talk, games industry veteran, Dr Tomas Rawlings, will run though what is happening now and what opportunities might emerge from the sad losses we’re seeing.
The Pervasive Media Studio is a partnership between the Watershed, University of the West of England and University of Bristol. The lunchtime talks are partly supported by MyWorld, a project led by the University of Bristol to support creative industries in the region. Watershed is supported by Arts Council England.
