This is my wife’s old Marin MTB. It’s been SORNed for years, then given to a neighbour’s son who said he’d ride it. After they moved out, we found it in their garden in this pitiful state.

My plan is not to restore it to its former state (we’re not riding MTB), but to turn it into a 26” gravel/adventure bike for a bit of fun in the woods of Brandenburg.

I’m thinking (rigid?) fork with disc brake, 1-by drivetrain, different handlebar with a more upright posture (because of neck and wrist problems) and new wheels (these ones would need a full rebuild, due to very rusty spokes).

It’ll take me a while, but it’s a longish-term project to make up for the fact that I was not in the right country to be involved in building up my own new bike.

Wish me luck! (You’ll find me over in r/bikewrench when I inevitably run into problems…)
