Solace is ¥113,800/about $775 and the Synapse is ¥150,000/about $1050
I have a 2019 Breezer Radar Pro and hope to keep it, mostly for use as a gravel/rindo/bikepacking bike.
I usually ride 10,000km+ a year with rides from 100km to 300km 2-3 times a month. Long rides are usually 90% on well maintained roads and 10% mountain rindo or gravel. The Cromoly Radar Pro is heavy but very comfortable over long distances. It’s not really slow – except when climbing when I feel the weight. I had a carbon Emonda before the Breezer which was a really great climber(wasn’t comfortable over long distances though).
Recently I’ve been doing more high intensity 30 to 40km training rides on good roads and would like to do more long(and longer) rides with more climbing this year so looking for a faster, stiffer, lighter bike without losing too much comfort.
I’m leaning towards the Solace because of the better price and weight but according to the shop there is creaking sound when turning the handlebars. Probably the cables inside the frame.
The Synapse is newer with disc brakes but a little heavier and since it’s a 54 I’m less sure about the fit. I’m 181cm. Unfortunately, I’m too far away from both bikes to try before buying.
Anyway, can’t make up my mind. Any other reasons to stay away from one or the other? Which one would you choose?
