Bremen, Germany is a top 10 #cyclingcity in Europe and considered the most bike friendly city in Germany but what inspired me the most while biking around here was the #BicycleTourism and the infrastructure outside of the urban core of the city that support it.

This video shows a ride out to the charming rural landscape of the Borgfeld region on converted rural bicycle prioritized roads and built multiuse paths that, together with excellent wayfinding, form a very well connected rural cycling system. Although this day was German Labor Day, these roads and paths were packed with all ages from #8to80

These conversions make for truly wonderful biking experiences and are the epitome of bicycle tourism, and I can see this implemented anywhere with the right vision. According to a recent German bicycle tourism analysis, 37 million people – more than half of German adults – cycled during holidays or as part of a day trip in 2023, with shorter bicycle trips generating €2-3 billion and longer trips generating €6-7 billion.

FYI, in 1980, Bremen was the location for the first @Velocity.Conference
