I'm about to bleed my Code Stealth brakes for the first time. I've read the SRAM service manual and watched both Clint Gibbs' and Park Tool's videos, which both match the SRAM manual. The top comment on both videos is a tip to close the lever bleed port first, then pressurise using the calliper syringe, and then close the bleeding edge port while the system is under pressure, which is the opposite order to what's shown in the videos and manual.
Why would SRAM not recommend this? Intuitively, it seems like this would give better braking performance. Is there some risk of damage by pressurising at the calliper? The main issue I see is that the bleeding edge adapter could pop out of the port, but this seems easy to avoid by just holding it in place while squeezing the syringe. Can the system be overfilled by doing this, leading to brake rub?
Side question: what does pumping the lever do during the process? I assume it's just to help remove air.
