  1. busted my 303s on my gravel bike. it wasn't cheap to ship the wheel but in like two weeks i had a new rim laced to the old hub and i was back riding. I should also point out, I blew out the sidewall of the wheel. The tubeless, cushcore, and specialized tire held for the next 7ishm miles to get home on fire-roads. I still run the wheels but on a road bike and they are astonishing, also the crosswind performance is incredible. The problem they have is the freehub is a "consumable" and it has weird bearings.

  2. Custom builds always! I did my own bulid and now own my dreambike at a price of sub 7k Euro which would have cost me about 10k as a full build plus replacement of the crap stuff. So it is cheaper to built your own if you manage to get deals on some of the components.

  3. The only bike racing I follow is the DH and Hardline races. Lost interest in road racing decades ago. Charging to view races will drive viewers away, just look at Discovery etc.

  4. Gravel is the future of cycling as a spectator sport. It’s more exciting, more unpredictable, just feels fresher. As a long time roadie, fan of the grand tours, I find the gravel races much more exciting to watch. I won’t stop watching the tour, have watched it forever, whole stages, but let’s be honest, it can be pretty boring to watch, especially whole stages. I enjoy the nuance and tactics, but is it exciting for new to cycling spectator? Probably not.

  5. Welcome back to the 3 Amigos. Missed the team, info and entertainment of my favorite talk, not just bike long format show. Keep on talking about recommendations of products for us real world folks. I am try to build a decent gravel bike, in addition to my Look 765 optimum that I recently purchased on sale off season as I can train more on the road and I come from road riding, but riding on gravel without cars, with challenging terrain and connecting to nature is my meditation now, especially at night! Please discuss one good carbon allroad wheelset which set I can switch between both bikes, with wide enough internal rim width that would be a good sweet spot for road tires at about 32mm and gravel tires at about 50mm, maybe from the Hunt range. Just want to switch the wheelset between bikes with only have to swap tires. Lots of us 50yo plus, bigger boys out there riding. Never change gang!❤

  6. Idk how any sensical person can justify e shifting. It's like buying an e car over one that works with free energy. Worse for the environment, doesn't last, solves a problem that doesn't exist while creating more problems…. It's insane

  7. One Cycling with Saudi oil money/Eurosport coverage being locked behind a ripoff paywall = I can stop watching pro cycling and just follow Cade Media instead – hooray!

  8. I think a complete custom is a bit of an overkill, but being able to customise main contact points would be perfect (tyres, bar width, stem length, bar tape and saddle).
I actually think bike shops can even make more profit by offering those upgrades in the store and re-selling the stock parts separately afterwards.

  9. I prefer SRAM over Shimano for one important reason: battery availability while riding. If your Shimano battery goes dead, you are stuck in small-small, whereas with SRAM you are stuck in your current gear. Also, you can geab your front battery and use it on the rear (I've done this).
As to glasses, i ride with motorcycle glases to keep bugs out of my eyes.

  10. No cars have electronic brakes. Hybrids and EVs have electrohydraulic, where their is an electronic system for regenerative braking, but it's still a master cylinder pushing hydraulic fluid to the calipers.

  11. The podcast is the only thing worth watching anymore on this channel. The best part of the Francis cade channel was the events and rides. The community of riding. Now it's just products and cheap bike challenges which every fuckin channel does. The death of cycling is everyone selling out to products and losing the community and the want to ride. Cade media isn't the only channel going that way. But it definitely has me going into my bmx channels more cuz they are solely about the experience and events

  12. I use DT Swiss wheels on all my bikes. I run EX511 on my mountain bike (if you know, you know). Their 6 bolt to spline disc mount is a work of art. They all come tubeless taped from the factory and every tubeless tyre has gone on easily with just a track pump. They're not flashy, they just work.

  13. At what mileage do you think padded shorts or bibs are necessary? Your commute must be longer than mine. I never wore bike shorts while commuting. In summer, just plain old short pants ($15 – $30) and a tee shirt or polo shirt. Caveat – they HAD to be moisture wicking fabric.

My commute combined the bike with the bus.

    Morning:
    Bike 1.75 miles
    Bus 35 miles
    Bike 8.0 miles

    Afternoon:
    Bike 6 miles
    Bus 35 miles
    Bike 7 miles

Bike – Fuji Touring with Brooks B17 Imperial saddle.

The commute was my favorite part of the day!
